Special Recognition: John Buker Receives the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award

On July 16, 2026, AMFA Local 32 member John Buker of Juneau, Alaska, was presented with the prestigious Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award by the Federal Aviation Administration.

The Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award is one of the highest honors the FAA bestows on aviation maintenance professionals. Named after Charles E. Taylor - the mechanic who designed and built the engine for the Wright brothers' first successful powered flight - the award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated 50 or more years of safe, professional, and dedicated service in aircraft maintenance.

Local 32 was proud to be represented at the presentation and to celebrate this significant milestone in John's career. His decades of skill, professionalism, and commitment to safety represent the best of our craft.

Please join us in congratulating John on this well-deserved recognition. His achievement reflects not only on his individual career, but on the high standards upheld by the mechanics of AMFA Local 32.

Congratulations, John!
