AMFA Local 32 Scholarship Fund 2012
Purpose
Realizing the importance of education, AMFA Local 32 has established a scholarship fund for the purpose of assisting its members and their dependants in defraying the cost of continuing education.
Award level
This program will award a total of 5 scholarships in the amount of $2000 each, for a total payout of $10000.00 each year.
Administration
The Scholarship Fund will be administered by the AMFA 32 Local Executive Council.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship award, the applicant must be either:
1. A member in good standing of AMFA Local 32, at the time the application is submitted, with a record of attendance at Membership Meetings of at least 50% for the previous calendar year.
2. The wife, husband or dependant son or daughter, or other legal dependant of a member of Local 32 in good standing, at the time the application is submitted, with a record of attendance at Membership Meetings of at least 50% for the previous calendar year.
The applicant must also be either:
1. A full-time student of a college, university, community college, private institute or trade school.
2. A high school graduate with a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 {Based on a 4.0 grade point scale} at the time of application that has been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning.
3. A dependant son or daughter in the final year of high school with a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 {Based on a 4.0 grade point scale}, with the intent to begin classes in an accredited learning institution of higher learning by the end of the award year.
4. A member of Local 32 enrolled in an accredited learning institution on a part-time
basis with a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 {based on a 4.0 scale}.
Educational Institution
Colleges, universities, community colleges, and trade schools qualify as educational institutions. Said institution must be accredited with a state, federal, or recognized educational accreditation agency.
Application process
Applications for the scholarship program will be available on the AMFA Local 32 website beginning January 5th of each year that the scholarship program is in force.
All applications must be received at the AMFA Local 32 office no later than the last business day in May to qualify for the drawing being held in that same year.
Only one application can be filed each year per person, however if a member has multiple individuals in their household that meet the eligibility requirements of this program, all qualifying individuals may apply.
An applicant must have a high school diploma, or the equivalent thereof, and intend to apply the scholarship to further said applicants education with an accredited educational institution.
Individuals who win one year may reapply the following year providing that they continue to meet this programs eligibility requirement
